I've been a writer my whole life.
Growing up, I compulsively filled marble notebook after marble notebook with poems, short stories, bits of dialogue, and names of characters I would give lives to one day. In college, I studied fiction and screenwriting and have since written three TV pilots, along with screenplay and teleplay treatments for over twenty different novels. Now, during the day, I'm the Head of Editorial for a narrative agency; all the other hours, I'm working on my ever-expanding collection of poems and screenplays.
I've been a writer my whole life. But the truth is, when I think about what writing means to me, I think about those first few marble notebooks I filled and how every Tuesday after school, I'd take them to my grandparents' house to read my latest story to my two biggest fans: my yiayia and my papou.
They lived on Chapel Hill Drive.
